Pastoral Leadership

At South City Church, we believe the Bible sets a precedent for church's to follow in how they are lead. Ultimately South City is lead by Christ since all those who have come to faith in Him, belong to Him.  As we attempt to be Biblical in how we lead each other, we see a clear pattern in Scripture of a plurality of leaders.  In other words, there is not just one pastor/elder but many, all equal in their leadership but often distinct in their function.  This precedent is an acknowledgement that spiritually shepherding a church should not and cannot be accomplished by just one man.  For a more robust explanation of what we believe the Bible says about pastoral leadership and how we are to lead, see our statement on Eldership in our Church Constitution and By-Laws.

  • Kyle Wiley

Kyle was born and raised in the Glorious Republic of Texas and still calls Lubbock, TX his hometown. Saved at the age of seven, he grew up in a Christian home where both of his parents sought to bring the truths of scripture to life through their family.

During his freshman year @ The University at Texas Tech, Kyle’s family walked through an incredibly difficult time as the Lord called his mother home after a three and half year battle with cancer. Through his grief God lead Kyle to abandon his pursuit of a medical degree and to pursue pastoral ministry. After serving as an intern at his local church during his undergraduate studies, upon his graduation, he served another church as their youth and college pastor. It was there that he met his wife Carrie.

After being married for a few years, the Wiley’s sensed the Lord leading them out of pastoral ministry and into a focus on missions. They would move to the Dallas-area in 2008 to go on staff with a missions organization, where Kyle would focus on church planting and leading teams to assist in evangelism around the globe. With a growing heart for SE Asia, they launched LifeVesting International in 2015 and relocated to Mobile. Kyle, Carrie and their four children: Laura Kate, Shepherd, Fischer, Archer started attending South City soon after their arrival and joined a couple months later.

It is Kyle’s hope to continue to see South City impact the nations with the gospel - in Mobile, in the US and around the globe - and to continue to see disciples made within the local body.
